Oogenesis stage that begins when nurse cell dumping begins and development of the wax layer begins. The dorsal appendages begin to form during this stage. This stage ends when dying nurse cells form an anterior cap to the oocyte. (Spradling, 1993, King, 1970, Mahowald and Kambysellis, 1980, Margaritis, 1986)
